Clear your group first

The 8 ball becomes your legal target only after every solid or stripe in your group has left the table. Pocketing your final group ball legally keeps your turn and moves you onto the 8.

Call the final pocket

Choose a pocket before shooting at the 8 ball. The 8 must enter that called pocket on a legal shot to win the rack.

The table highlights the call and waits for your selection, so the next step is visible instead of hidden in a rule message.

Know the losing outcomes

You lose if the 8 ball is pocketed early, enters a pocket other than the one you called, or is made on a foul. Scratching while pocketing the 8 is also a loss.
