Which Solitaire game should you play?

All four are played alone, and each asks something different of you.

  • Klondike Solitaire

Klondike is the solitaire most people know: seven columns, a stock to draw from, and four foundations to build from ace to king. Most cards start face down and turn over as you uncover them. Draw 1 is the more forgiving way to play, Draw 3 the harder one, each at Easy, Standard, or Hard. Start here for the classic game, with lessons that teach it one idea at a time. • Spider Solitaire

Spider Solitaire uses two decks of cards and ten columns. You build runs in a single suit from king down to ace, and each finished run leaves the table. With 1 suit every card is a spade, a relaxed way to learn. Two suits add hearts, and 4 suits is classic Spider, where keeping runs in suit takes real planning. Play Spider Solitaire

  • FreeCell

FreeCell deals all 52 cards face up, so nothing is hidden and luck plays almost no part. Four free cells hold cards out of the way while you build each suit home from ace to king. Choose Easy, Medium, or Hard from 10,000 deals a solver has already won. Pick it if you like to plan a whole game from the first move. Play FreeCell

  • Mahjong Solitaire

Mahjong Solitaire is not a card game. It is played with mahjong tiles: you clear a layout of 144 tiles by matching free pairs of identical tiles, two at a time. GameCamp uses the classic Turtle layout, and when no free pair is left, Shuffle rearranges the tiles still in play. Pick it if you would rather match pairs than order a deck. Play Mahjong Solitaire

Solitaire FAQ

Which Solitaire game is easiest to start with?
Klondike with Draw 1 on Easy, or Spider with 1 suit. Draw 1 is the more forgiving way to play Klondike, and one-suit Spider is a relaxed place to learn. In either game, Hint looks for a move on a winning path from where you are, and tells you when it cannot find one.
Are all the deals winnable?
Yes. Every Klondike, Spider, and FreeCell deal on GameCamp has already been won by a solver, and every Mahjong Solitaire deal is built backwards from an empty board, so it can always be cleared from the start. Your own moves can still close off every route, and Undo lets you back up.
What is the difference between Klondike, Spider, and FreeCell?
Klondike hides most cards face down and adds a stock to draw from. Spider uses two decks and asks for same-suit runs from king down to ace. FreeCell shows every card from the start and gives you four free cells to work with.
Is Mahjong Solitaire a card game?
No. It uses the tiles of Chinese mahjong instead of cards, and you remove them in matching pairs until the layout is clear. Like the card games, it is a one-player puzzle.
Can I play on my phone?
Yes. All four games run in mobile and desktop browsers. Drag cards with your finger, or tap a card and then tap where it should go. In Mahjong Solitaire, tap a free tile and then its match.
Are these Solitaire games free?
Yes. All four are free to play, with no account, download, or sign-up.
