Build the tableau

A tableau card may be placed on a card exactly one rank higher and of the opposite color. A black seven accepts a red six; it cannot accept another black card or a five.

Suits do not need to alternate. Hearts and diamonds are both red, while clubs and spades are both black.

Once cards form a legal descending, alternating-color sequence, move the whole run together. This lets you uncover cards without rebuilding the sequence one card at a time.

Turning over face-down tableau cards usually matters more than making a tidy visible stack. Every reveal adds a new card and may unlock several later moves.

When two legal moves are available, prefer the one that exposes a card or empties a column unless another move has a clear purpose.
